Columbia Gorge Air Quality workplan

2003 Redesign of Project Work Plan

The 2003 Gorge Project Work Plan Addendum outlines a program for scientific study and a collaborative public process for developing an air quality strategy for the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

The budget reductions faced in Washington and Oregon in 2003 required the initial 2001 project Work Plan be revised to meet budget realities. The project’s mission remains the same: to develop an equitable air quality strategy for the Gorge that is consistent with both the resource and economic objectives of the National Scenic Area Act. However, the approach to accomplishing that mission has changed.

  • The project’s scientific study program for evaluating air quality in the Gorge has been redesigned to reflect available funding. Oregon and Washington air quality agencies have developed a new approach to the scientific study program. Read the 2003 Revised Air Quality Study Plan.
  • The air quality advisory committee process has also been delayed until the new air quality study is complete. The 2003 Revised Project Work Plan Addendum discusses all aspects of the project, including the process for reviewing air quality study results; the approach and timing of strategy development; and opportunities for public, stakeholder, and tribal involvement

The 2003 Project Work Plan Addendum supercedes the original 2001 Work Plan.
